Job Description Job Description JOB SUMMARY The Maintenance Crew
role involves general construction, maintenance, logistics, and
setup for real estate projects and fixed assets across the Nevada
Operations portfolio, with a focus on maintaining the safety and
function of Burning Man Properties. Duties encompass general
repairs, upkeep, carpentry, dirt work, heavy equipment operations,
plumbing, electrical, and other manual labor. The ideal candidate
is a professional team player with strong customer service and
organizational skills who is expected to complete all work orders
promptly. This is a temporary, full-time, non-exempt role, based in
Gerlach, NV running from March to July, 2026 The deadline to apply

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Maintenance (40%) Performs general
maintenance repairs throughout areas, occupied units, and vacant
units as directed by the manager. This includes but is not limited
to HVAC, minor electrical & plumbing, drywall & paint repairs, and
cleaning. Participate in team meetings to give input on overall
property maintenance issues, recommendations, and problem solving.
Assist in maintaining exterior grounds. Perform preventative
maintenance on BMP assets. Ensure that all supply rooms are kept
organized and clean. Must be able to use standard tools of the
trade. E.g., cordless/electric drill, circular saw, screwdriver,
hammer, circuit tester, channel locks, utility knife, chisels.
Maintain a professional and courteous manner with all visitors,
residents, vendors, contractors, and team members. Maintenance of
irrigation systems and landscaping at all properties. Maintain an
inventory of standard consumables for maintenance and repairs.
Construction and Logistics (40%) Work collaboratively as a crew
member on construction projects. Assist in the set-up and breakdown
of on-site workshops as needed. Creation of structures, leveling
the earth, constructing and installing signage, installation of
materials, installing large items, installing flooring, painting,
fixing and maintaining bathrooms and kitchens, installation of
doors and windows. Perform manual labor as instructed. Use hand,
power, and fixed tools. Heavy Equipment Operation (10%) Operate
heavy equipment in compliance with Burning Man Project and OSHA’s
operating safety policies and procedures. Load and unload equipment
from vehicles and trailers. Perform daily inspections of heavy
equipment. Move boxes, containers, and other materials as
necessary. Complete any organizationally required training as
necessary. Safety and Professional Organization (5%) Establish and
maintain a clean and safe worksite while utilizing the necessary
OSHA-approved safety equipment. Assess and acquire tools and
supplies needed to complete assigned projects. Maintain a clean and
safe work area, returning all tools and equipment to their proper
storage locations at the end of the day. Identify and repair
failures in building and properties plumbing, electrical,
structural, HVAC, etc. Assist in preparing properties for weather
related safety needs - shovel snow, distribute salt for
freezing/ice days, install fans, and filters for smoke. Other
Functions and Responsibilities (5%) Maintain flexibility in
schedules due to the workload being dependent upon vendors and
other departments. Abide by the rules and codes of conduct
described in the Nevada Operations Manual, DPW Handbook, and Ranch
Protocols. Monitor radio and communication devices for urgent
requests. Coordinate and install all holiday decor for all
properties. Perform other duties as assigned. LEARNING AND TEACHING
Documentation - Assists in the creation, publishing, and
maintenance of process documentation related to their assigned
duties. Knowledge sharing – Helps acculturate and educate junior
staff in Burning Man culture and business processes. Training
development - Collaborates with the education team to develop
training materials in their area of expertise, as requested.
Learning – Pursues ongoing learning in their area of expertise,
working to stay current on emergent knowledge, skills, and
processes. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED Knowledge of and experience with
power tools, including table saw, skill saw, miter saw, jigsaw, and
angle grinder. Ability to adjust schedule seasonally to work at the
Burning Man event held in Nevada. Abide by the rules and codes of
conduct described in the Burning Man Project behavioral standards
and NVO Compass. PREFERRED It is helpful if the candidate has
previously been to Burning Man and/or is familiar with its culture.
Experience in heavy machinery operation. Experience in general
construction/handyman. Ability to work with awareness and clear
communication in a production environment. A professional work
ethic and enthusiasm toward working with others. A team player who
is also able to work independently. Excellent interpersonal skills;
able to help motivate and encourage a collaborative work
environment. Instills and applies order and cleanliness to the work
environment and pays careful attention to equipment handling
details. Education or training, or an Associate's Degree, in the
facilities maintenance trades is a plus. HVAC Certification is a
plus. One year of facilities maintenance, construction, or repair
experience is preferred. Ability to take apart machines, equipment,
or devices to remove and replace defective parts. Ability to check
blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.
Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic

in your application. REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS Valid
driver’s license and a good driving record. COMPENSATION:
Individual compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of
factors, including prior experience and geographical location. The
anticipated pay rate for this position is $15.00 to $18.00 per
hour. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT Off-playa: This
position requires periods of heavy lifting, bending, kneeling,
squatting, and climbing. This position will be physically
demanding, and requires individuals with good physical health, and
endurance. Will include the need to find and meet with
representatives who may not be in the vicinity, therefore this
could include walking or using some form of transportation. Some of
the work will be in outside weather conditions and will be exposed
to fumes or airborne particles as well as possible extremes in
temperature. On-playa: This position requires periods of heavy
lifting, bending, kneeling, squatting, and climbing. This position
will be physically demanding, and requires individuals with good
physical health, and endurance. Work will include the need to find
