My client is looking for an imaginative and strategic Operations
Instructional Designer who can transform complex manufacturing
processes into engaging, accessible, and effective learning
experiences. Client Details This specialty food manufacturer is
known for its high standards in quality, craftsmanship, and
innovation, producing indulgent, premium products enjoyed by
consumers nationwide. Description The key responsibilities for the
operational instructional designer for the food manufacturer in
Oakland, CA are: Design and deliver creative training
materials-including interactive eLearning modules, microlearning
videos, simulations, infographics, job aids, and blended learning
solutions. Translate technical content (SOPs, safety procedures,
equipment operation, TPM principles) into compelling,
easy-to-understand training tools for diverse learner groups.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Ops, Safety, Maintenance,
Quality, CI) and frontline employees to ensure learning content is
relevant, engaging, and effective. Lead content creation for new
hire onboarding, upskilling programs, and TPM/Lean Manufacturing
initiatives. Apply instructional design principles and innovative
learning methods (gamification, storytelling, scenario-based
learning, peer learning). Ensure all training aligns with
compliance requirements (GMP, HACCP, FSMA) and reflects our
operational and safety standards. Partner with the LMS
administrator to upload and track content, run analytics, and
gather feedback for continuous improvement. Conduct site visits and
floor walks to stay close to the work and create training that's
grounded in real-world application. Profile A Operational
Instructional Designer for the food manufactuer in Oakland, CA will
have: 3-5 years of experience in instructional design or learning
development-ideally in a manufacturing, operations, or industrial
setting. Strong portfolio that demonstrates creativity in designing
for non-desk, adult learners (visual storytelling, interactive
content, etc.). Background in food, beverage, or CPG manufacturing
strongly preferred. Skilled in tools like Articulate 360, Adobe
Creative Suite, Vyond, Camtasia, and/or other media production
platforms. Familiarity with TPM, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma a
plus. Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred for engaging
diverse hourly teams. Excellent collaboration, curiosity, and
