Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Polysomnographer Discipline: Allied Health Professional Duration: 13 weeks 40 hours per week Shift: 10 hours, days, evenings, nights Employment Type: Local Contract Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Polysomnographic Technologist (Sleep Tech) to join our Respiratory and Neuro Diagnostics team . The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting overnight sleep studies and assisting in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with sleep-related disorders including sleep apnea, narcolepsy, and parasomnias. Key Responsibilities: Perform overnight and daytime sleep studies (polysomnography) following AASM protocols and guidelines. Set up, calibrate, and monitor sleep diagnostic equipment including EEG, EMG, EOG, ECG, respiratory sensors, and pulse oximetry. Accurately score and interpret sleep stages and associated events (e.g., apneas, hypopneas, limb movements, arousals) using standard scoring criteria. Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and neurologists to provide high-quality care and accurate diagnostic reports. Ensure proper patient preparation, education, safety, and comfort during sleep studies. Maintain thorough documentation in accordance with clinical standards and HIPAA requirements. Monitor patients for any abnormalities or medical concerns and respond appropriately to emergencies or critical events. Assist with titration studies including CPAP/BiPAP, ASV, and oxygen therapy when indicated. Perform equipment maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting. Stay updated with latest AASM guidelines, best practices, and continuing education requirements. Qualifications: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Neurodiagnostics, Respiratory Therapy, or a related field. RPSGT (Registered Polysomnographic Technologist) certification preferred (or eligibility within 6–12 months). Current BLS/CPR certification. At least 1–2 years of clinical experience in a sleep lab or neurodiagnostics setting (preferred). Familiarity with sleep study equipment and scoring software (e.g., Alice, Sandman, Compumedics). Strong attention to detail, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. Preferred Qualifications: CRT or RRT credential with sleep specialty (SDS) from NBRC is a plus. Knowledge of respiratory therapy and neurodiagnostics integration in sleep medicine. Experience working in hospital or accredited sleep centers.
