Position Overview:A Dosimetrist is a member of radiation oncology team and is responsible for creating radiation therapy treatment plans. -Radiation therapy treatment plans are created using treatment planning software or manual calculations to maximize the dose -to target volumes, and minimizing the dose to the normal tissues within a patient. Dosimetrist works closely with radiation -oncologists in conjunction with radiation therapists, physicists, and other members of the oncology team to create treatment -plans that are optimal and practical for treating radiation therapy patients. A dosimetrist may be involved in external beam -planning as well as Brachytherapy. A dosimetrist is expected to possess the knowledge required for creating treatment plans as -well as working with different software used within a radiation oncology department. This knowledge must include, but is not -limited to, a sound understanding of anatomy and physiology, medical dosimetry skills, radiation physics, radiation safety, -math, and utilizing multiple computer systems and software. A dosimetrist in this practice must possess compassion for treating -cancer patients and be a team player. This position reports directly to Dosimetry Manager.
This position will primarily support the Sacramento Radiation Oncology Center but will be required to rotate and support all current and future Valley area centers (Roseville, Auburn, Cameron Park, Vacaville) as needed.Qualifications:Education/Certification/Licensure:

• Associates Degree required, Bachelors preferred
• Graduate from an accredited medical dosimetry school -OR completed a minimum of 2 years of on the job -training in medical dosimetry under the supervision of a -Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) or Medical Physicist -in a radiation oncology center required
• Graduate from an accredited radiation therapy technology program (ARRT) preferred
• Medical Dosimetry Certification Board (MDCB) as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) Exception: Dosimetry students are eligible to take the MDCB exam to be a CMD only after they graduate from an accredited dosimetry school. A recent graduate of an accredited dosimetry school who has not had the opportunity to take the exam may be hired without a CMD certification but will be required to take and pass the certification exam (MDCB) within 3 consecutive exams offered by MDCB starting immediately after his/her hire date
• ARRT as a Radiation Therapy Technologist (RTT) preferred
